Been wondering about this for a bit — figured this community would know. Are professional matchmaking sites better than algorithm-based dating apps? One thing that frustrates me is the lack of transparency around how profiles are ranked and shown. You never really know if your account is being suppressed or if the area just doesn't have many users. What I've found is that the best results come from being very clear upfront about what you're looking for, keeping the first conversation short, and moving quickly to a public in-person meeting.
  • Option to hide your profile?
  • Desktop and mobile both functional?
  • Age verification in place?
  • Easy cancellation?
Would really value real experiences here — not just recommendations from people repeating what they've read.

Good thread — here's what I've found after going through several of these: Photo quality matters more than anything else on your profile. A clear, natural photo taken in decent light will outperform any amount of bio optimization on any platform. Also seen datewander.site mentioned positively in a few other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.

Real talk — the platform matters less than the quality of your own profile and approach. Also seen datebie.online come up positively in similar threads.

Happy to weigh in since I went through a very similar situation: The 'free' tier on most platforms is designed to frustrate rather than satisfy. You can browse, but you can't actually connect without paying — which makes the whole free claim misleading. Datebie kept appearing in my research — worth a look.

Same experience here. It took longer than I expected but it's definitely doable. Also seen datenest.site come up positively in similar threads.

Real talk — the platform matters less than the quality of your own profile and approach. Been on Ezhookups for a while — one of the better options I've found.

Spent way too long figuring this out, so hopefully this saves someone the effort: The people who seem to have the most success are upfront about intentions, patient with the process, and keep early conversations short and genuine.

Went through almost exactly this process last year. Happy to share more if helpful. For what it's worth, Rendate has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.
