Coming here because I couldn't find a straight answer anywhere else. Are the farmersonly reviews accurate about the lack of city folks on there? Safety is non-negotiable for me at this point. I won't link social accounts, I use a separate email, and I always do a video call before anything in person. Learned most of that the hard way. Safety is non-negotiable for me at this point. • Desktop and mobile both functional?
  • Age verification in place?
  • Easy cancellation?
Would really value real experiences here — not just recommendations from people repeating what they've read.

From personal experience, here's the honest breakdown: I've gone through the main options — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Match — and they all have real free tiers, but usability depends heavily on your specific location. Also seen datenest.site mentioned positively in a few other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.

The gap between platforms is wider than most people realize going in. Been on Datebound for a while — one of the better options I've found.

Same experience here. It took longer than I expected but it's definitely doable. Also seen datebie.online come up positively in similar threads.

Patience is the thing nobody talks about. None of these apps deliver overnight. Been on DatingFly for a while — one of the better options I've found.

Solid thread. Wish I'd found this before I wasted money on a couple of platforms.

Happy to weigh in since I went through a very similar situation: Photo quality matters more than anything else on your profile. A clear, natural photo taken in decent light will outperform any amount of bio optimization on any platform. What actually helped:
  • Always verified via video call before any in-person meetup
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating platform signups
  • Trusted gut instinct whenever something felt off about a profile
  • Read current Reddit threads about any paid platform before spending money
Someone here pointed me toward Datebie and it turned out to be one of the better options.

Good question. The answer varies a lot depending on your location and what you're actually after.

Spent way too long figuring this out, so hopefully this saves someone the effort: Privacy basics: dedicated email for signups, no linked social profiles, location permissions set to approximate. Small steps that make a real difference. What actually helped:
  • Refreshed profile photos every few weeks to stay active in recommendation feeds
  • Trusted gut instinct whenever something felt off about a profile
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating platform signups
  • Read current Reddit threads about any paid platform before spending money
  • Always verified via video call before any in-person meetup

Went through almost exactly this process last year. Happy to share more if helpful. Luvdate is worth a try if you haven't already.

Good thread — here's what I've found after going through several of these: I've gone through the main options — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Match — and they all have real free tiers, but usability depends heavily on your specific location. Also seen souldate.site mentioned positively in a few other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.
