First post but this felt relevant to share. Are there actual dating apps that don't use engagement bots? I'd love to hear from people outside the major cities. The suburban and rural experience on these platforms is genuinely different and usually underrepresented in reviews. Scam spotting has become a real skill at this point. Professionally lit photos, minimal bio, immediate pivot to another app — those are the patterns I've learned to avoid.
  • Option to browse without being seen?
  • Easy profile deletion?
  • Age verification in place?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Went through this process myself recently. It takes longer than expected but it's doable. Flamedate is worth trying if you haven't already.

Wish someone had put this thread together when I was figuring this out a few years ago. datebie.online also comes up in similar threads — another one to look into.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost exactly this situation: Profile photos still matter more than anything else. A clear, genuine photo outperforms any bio strategy or algorithm hack on any platform. What actually helped:
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
Someone here pointed me toward Datewander and I'm glad they did.

Solid question. The answer shifts depending on where you live and what you're after. datebound.site also comes up in similar threads — another one to look into.
