Hey everyone, been trying to figure this out for a while. Are there any completely free dating sites no subscription required at all? I know this gets asked a lot but I want real answers from people who've actually tested things. Profile authenticity is something I care about a lot. Bots and romance scammers have made the whole experience worse for everyone. Profile authenticity is something I care about a lot. Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
Someone here mentioned Datebound a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
Also worth mentioning datescout.site — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.

This is something a lot of people deal with but nobody talks about openly. Good to see it discussed. Also seeing datelink.online mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
Worth looking at Flamedate — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.

Honestly same experience here. It's hit or miss depending on where you live.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: Privacy best practices: throwaway email for sign-up, don't link social accounts, and keep location permissions minimal until you know the platform is trustworthy. Things that actually made a difference for me:

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. For what it's worth, Turndate has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

A couple of people in my circle swear by flamedate.online though results seem to vary by location.

Honestly same experience here. It's hit or miss depending on where you live. I've been using DatingFly and it's been solid compared to the others I've tried.
