So this has been on my mind lately: Are there any completely free dating websites supported by donations? Looking for honest takes, not just app store ads. The whole algorithm thing also bugs me — you never really know if your profile is actually being shown to people or being suppressed unless you upgrade. • Age verification in place?
  • Is the desktop version as good as mobile?
  • Public vs private profile options?
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
Worth looking at Datelink — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.

Solid question. The answer really depends on your location and what you're looking for.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform.
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
Also worth mentioning turndate.site — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Hinge, OkCupid, Badoo, MeetMe — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
Worth looking at Flamedate — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.
