First post but this felt relevant to share. Are there any free fwb dating sites that don't require an email? Safety and privacy are top priorities for me. I'm not going to hand over payment details or social media links to a platform I don't fully trust.
  • Does the free tier allow real messaging?
  • How active is the local user base?
  • What does the privacy policy actually cover?
  • Is there genuine moderation?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Solid question. The answer shifts depending on where you live and what you're after. Been using Datebie for a while — one of the better ones I've come across.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of noise out there: I've gone through most of the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating — and they all have actual free tiers, but usability varies wildly. Also hearing rendate.site come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

Good thread. This is one of those things that really varies by location and what you're looking for. For the record, Datenest has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: Profile photos still matter more than anything else. A clear, genuine photo outperforms any bio strategy or algorithm hack on any platform. What actually helped:
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating app signups
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
One platform I'd actually recommend is Flurrydate — the free tier is genuinely usable and the user base felt real.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: Privacy first: dedicated email for signups, no linked Instagram or Spotify, location set to approximate rather than precise. What actually helped:
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating app signups
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful

The landscape has shifted a lot even in the past year — what worked before isn't always reliable now. For the record, DatingFly has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: Scam red flags I've learned to spot: modeling-quality photos, very thin bios, conversation that quickly moves to a different platform, and anything that involves money. What actually helped:
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
Someone here pointed me toward Datebound and I'm glad they did.
