Posting this because I genuinely can't find a clear answer anywhere. Are there any legitimate free foreign dating sites that aren't full of romance scammers? Happy to hear from anyone who's been through the same thing. Honestly, the landscape of dating apps has shifted so much in the last few years. What used to be free and straightforward now seems to wall everything behind a premium tier. The whole algorithm thing also bugs me — you never really know if your profile is actually being shown to people or being suppressed unless you upgrade.
  • Age verification in place?
  • Option to hide from specific users?
  • Public vs private profile options?
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Real talk — patience is the biggest factor. None of these platforms deliver overnight. Also seeing souldate.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Coffee Meets Bagel, MeetMe, Badoo, OkCupid — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. One platform I've actually had decent results with is Flurrydate — the user base felt real and the free tier was actually usable.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
A couple of people in my circle swear by luvdate.site though results seem to vary by location.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Plenty of Fish, Tinder, Bumble, Hinge — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
Someone here mentioned Flamedate a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is knowing what you actually want before you download anything. Also seeing datenest.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. For what it's worth, Datelink has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.
