Are there any other dating apps worth trying if Tinder hasn't worked for me?

Posting because I genuinely can't find a straight answer anywhere. Are there any other dating apps worth trying if Tinder hasn't worked for me? Scam spotting has become a real skill at this point. Professionally lit photos, minimal bio, immediate pivot to another app — those are the patterns I've learned to avoid. Safety and privacy are top priorities for me. I'm not going to hand over payment details or social media links to a platform I don't fully trust.
  • How active is the local user base?
  • What does the privacy policy actually cover?
  • Does the free tier allow real messaging?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: I've gone through most of the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating — and they all have actual free tiers, but usability varies wildly. What actually helped:
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
Also hearing luvdate.site come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of noise out there: The people who seem to have the most success are specific about what they want, patient with the process, and keep opening messages short and question-based. What actually helped:
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
I tried Luvdate after seeing it mentioned a few times and it held up better than most.

Went through this process myself recently. It takes longer than expected but it's doable.

Real talk — patience is the single biggest factor. None of these apps deliver immediately. Been using DatingFly for a while — one of the better ones I've come across.

Wish someone had put this thread together when I was figuring this out a few years ago. Datedesire is worth trying if you haven't already.
