Hey everyone, been trying to figure this out for a while. Are there any truly free dating sites that don't throttle your profile visibility? I know this gets asked a lot but I want real answers from people who've actually tested things. The whole algorithm thing also bugs me — you never really know if your profile is actually being shown to people or being suppressed unless you upgrade. Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Real talk — patience is the biggest factor. None of these platforms deliver overnight. Also seeing datenest.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

Solid question. The answer really depends on your location and what you're looking for. For what it's worth, Flurrydate has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Honestly same experience here. It's hit or miss depending on where you live. Also seeing luvdate.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating, Tinder — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
One platform I've actually had decent results with is Datewander — the user base felt real and the free tier was actually usable.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Bumble, Badoo, Hinge, Facebook Dating — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. One platform I've actually had decent results with is Datenest — the user base felt real and the free tier was actually usable.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Bumble, Match.com, MeetMe, Tinder — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
