Hey all — hoping for some genuinely useful input here. Are there dating apps single parents recommend for avoiding "kid-haters"? The algorithm question bugs me a lot. Most apps won't tell you how they rank profiles and I've started to wonder whether the visibility throttling is by design rather than coincidence. Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: Profile photos still matter more than anything else. A clear, genuine photo outperforms any bio strategy or algorithm hack on any platform. What actually helped:
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting

Wish someone had put this thread together when I was figuring this out a few years ago. Flamedate is worth trying if you haven't already.

Let me share what actually made a difference after a lot of trial and error: Location is the unspoken variable in most reviews. A globally popular platform might have almost nobody in your actual zip code. What actually helped:
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
Also hearing datewander.site come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

Solid question. The answer shifts depending on where you live and what you're after. For the record, Datebound has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.
