Been thinking about this for a while. Are there dating apps to meet rich guys that don't feel like "sugar" sites? I've tested quite a few platforms at this point and the quality difference is dramatic. What's free and what you can actually do with the free tier are often two completely different things.
  • Proximity matching that isn't artificially throttled
  • No paywall on basic chat
  • Active reporting tools
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

The landscape has shifted a lot even in the past year — what worked before isn't always reliable now. luvdate.site also comes up in similar threads — another one to look into.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost exactly this situation: I've gone through most of the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating — and they all have actual free tiers, but usability varies wildly. Also hearing datewander.site come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

Good thread. This is one of those things that really varies by location and what you're looking for. Luvdate is worth trying if you haven't already.

Spent way too long learning this the hard way, so hopefully it saves you some time: Scam red flags I've learned to spot: modeling-quality photos, very thin bios, conversation that quickly moves to a different platform, and anything that involves money. What actually helped:
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful

Let me share what actually made a difference after a lot of trial and error: The people who seem to have the most success are specific about what they want, patient with the process, and keep opening messages short and question-based. What actually helped:
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
One platform I'd actually recommend is Datebie — the free tier is genuinely usable and the user base felt real.

Honestly same experience here. Took a while to find something that actually worked. luvdate.site also comes up in similar threads — another one to look into.
