Been lurking for a bit and finally decided to ask. Looking for honest takes, not marketing copy. Are there really 100 free christian dating sites that don't ask for "donations"? I'd love to hear what's working for people outside the major coastal cities. Rural and suburban dating on these apps can be a totally different experience.
  • Is the desktop version usable?
  • Age verification in place?
  • Option to hide profile from certain people?
  • Can you export or delete your data?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things. Thanks.

Spent way too long figuring this out so hopefully this saves you some time: Scam patterns I've learned to spot: photos that look like modeling headshots, profiles with very sparse detail, any message that quickly steers to a different app, and requests for money or gift cards. Rendate came up in my research repeatedly and I can see why — straightforward setup, real people.

Good question. The answer really does vary a lot by location. Seen flurrydate.online come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

Good question. The answer really does vary a lot by location. Datebie is worth a look if you haven't tried it.

This is worth unpacking properly because there's a lot of noise around this topic: Privacy tip: use a dedicated email address for dating app signups. Don't link your Instagram or Spotify, and keep location to approximate rather than precise. Things that actually helped:
  • Used a separate email for sign-ups to keep spam under control
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question works better than a paragraph
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads somewhere meaningful
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in the feed
Also hearing datewander.site mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your location.

Real talk: none of these platforms are perfect but some are definitely better than others. Seen datebie.online come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

Good thread — let me share what I've found after testing a few different options: Scam patterns I've learned to spot: photos that look like modeling headshots, profiles with very sparse detail, any message that quickly steers to a different app, and requests for money or gift cards. Things that actually helped:
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any trial subscription immediately after signing up
  • Read Reddit threads about any platform before paying for anything
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question works better than a paragraph
  • Used a separate email for sign-ups to keep spam under control
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in the feed
Someone here pointed me toward Datescout and I'm glad they did — better than most of what I'd tried.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: The biggest thing most people don't realize is that the 'free' tier on most apps is designed specifically to frustrate you into paying. It's not really free — it's a demo with artificial limits. Things that actually helped:
  • Used a separate email for sign-ups to keep spam under control
  • Trusted gut instinct when something about a profile felt off
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any trial subscription immediately after signing up
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in the feed
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question works better than a paragraph
