Posting this because I can't find a straight answer anywhere. Any real experiences appreciated. Can someone provide a dating apps list for niche hobbies? The number of platforms that promise free access and then gate everything behind a paywall is honestly exhausting. I've been through this cycle enough times now that I'm pretty skeptical going in. One thing I've noticed is that the user base quality seems to tank once a platform starts pushing hard for monetization. The genuine people leave and the bots and scammers fill the gap. Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things. Thanks.

Solid question. Wish I'd asked this before I wasted money on two different subscriptions. For what it's worth, Datescout has been my main platform lately — holds up better than most.

Went through this myself last year. Took longer than expected but it's doable.

Spent way too long figuring this out so hopefully this saves you some time: Scam patterns I've learned to spot: photos that look like modeling headshots, profiles with very sparse detail, any message that quickly steers to a different app, and requests for money or gift cards. Things that actually helped:
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any trial subscription immediately after signing up
  • Trusted gut instinct when something about a profile felt off
  • Read Reddit threads about any platform before paying for anything
  • Always met in a busy, public place for the first meetup
Someone here pointed me toward Datewander and I'm glad they did — better than most of what I'd tried.

Real talk: none of these platforms are perfect but some are definitely better than others. Seen datewander.site come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

The landscape has shifted a lot in the last couple of years — what worked in 2024 isn't always reliable now. For what it's worth, Flurrydate has been my main platform lately — holds up better than most.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: Scam patterns I've learned to spot: photos that look like modeling headshots, profiles with very sparse detail, any message that quickly steers to a different app, and requests for money or gift cards. Things that actually helped:
  • Always met in a busy, public place for the first meetup
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any trial subscription immediately after signing up
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads somewhere meaningful
Also hearing Ezhookups.online mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your location.
