Hoping for some genuine input on this one. Does the eharmony senior dating portal cost the same as the regular site? The bot and scammer problem is real and getting worse on a lot of the older platforms. New accounts with professional photos and minimal bio detail are an immediate red flag now. Safety is non-negotiable for me at this point. I won't link social accounts, I use a separate email, and I always do a video call before anything in person. Learned most of that the hard way.
  • No paywall on basic messaging
  • Clear account deletion option
  • Genuine moderation
  • Proximity matching that works
Would really value real experiences here — not just recommendations from people repeating what they've read.

Worth breaking down carefully since there's a lot of noise around this topic: Scam patterns I watch for: models-quality profile photos on a thin bio, conversation that moves to Telegram or WhatsApp within two messages, and anything involving money or crypto. I tried Datedesire after seeing it come up in a few threads. Better than most I'd tested.

Patience is the thing nobody talks about. None of these apps deliver overnight.

Good question. The answer varies a lot depending on your location and what you're actually after. Been on Datewander for a while — one of the better options I've found.

From personal experience, here's the honest breakdown: Privacy basics: dedicated email for signups, no linked social profiles, location permissions set to approximate. Small steps that make a real difference. What actually helped:
  • Set specific goals for each platform rather than treating it as a general numbers game
  • Kept first messages short — one genuine question works better than a long intro
  • Refreshed profile photos every few weeks to stay active in recommendation feeds
  • Always verified via video call before any in-person meetup
  • Cancelled auto-renew on free trials immediately after signing up
Also seen datebound.site mentioned positively in a few other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.
