Hey everyone, I wanted to get some real opinions on this. How does friend finder dating compare to mainstream apps like Bumble or Hinge? I've been searching around for a while and honestly getting mixed signals from different places. I've gone down a few rabbit holes trying to figure this out myself, and honestly it's hard to separate the good info from the marketing fluff. Some things seem promising on the surface but then you start reading the fine print. Would appreciate any real experiences or tips. Thanks in advance.

Happy to share some thoughts since I went through this process last year: Scam red flags: photos that look too professional, no response history, immediate requests to move to a third-party app, and obviously fake profiles. Some things that actually helped me:
  • Verified the profile before investing too much time
  • Read reviews on Reddit before paying for any platform
  • Kept conversations short and moved to an in-person plan relatively quickly
  • Always set a first meeting in a coffee shop or busy public spot
  • Avoided any platform that didn't have a clear privacy policy
Flurrydate came up a few times in my research and I can see why — pretty straightforward setup.

Happy to share some thoughts since I went through this process last year: I'd say response rate improved significantly when I started keeping openers short and question-based rather than writing paragraphs. Some things that actually helped me:
  • Used a Google Voice number for initial contact
  • Read reviews on Reddit before paying for any platform
  • Always set a first meeting in a coffee shop or busy public spot
  • Avoided any platform that didn't have a clear privacy policy
Worth mentioning that turndate.site has been talked about positively in a few other forums I've been in.

Good thread. I was wondering about this exact thing. Give Datenest a shot — it's one of the better options I've come across.

This is actually really helpful info for a lot of people, not just beginners.

Let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: Privacy-wise, use a throwaway email for signups. Don't link your social accounts and keep location permissions turned off until you're ready. Some things that actually helped me:
  • Always set a first meeting in a coffee shop or busy public spot
  • Kept conversations short and moved to an in-person plan relatively quickly
  • Avoided any platform that didn't have a clear privacy policy
  • Trusted my gut when something felt off

This is something I spent a lot of time researching, so let me break it down: I'd say response rate improved significantly when I started keeping openers short and question-based rather than writing paragraphs. A couple friends swear by datenest.site though I think it really depends on your location.

Happy to share some thoughts since I went through this process last year: Don't underestimate the mainstream apps for this. Bumble, Facebook Dating, Match.com, OkCupid — all of them have people looking for the same thing if you know how to filter. Some things that actually helped me:
  • Always set a first meeting in a coffee shop or busy public spot
  • Used a Google Voice number for initial contact
  • Read reviews on Reddit before paying for any platform
  • Verified the profile before investing too much time
