Happy to be proven wrong — just want honest opinions. How popular is the meetic dating site outside of France? Bots have gotten sophisticated enough that it's hard to tell on first message. The tells I've learned: professional photos on a sparse bio, immediate move to another platform, and oddly perfect grammar. The rural and suburban experience on most apps is dramatically different from what the big-city reviewers describe. I'd love to hear from people outside major metros.
  • Can you browse without being seen?
  • Easy subscription cancellation?
  • Age verification in place?
Would genuinely value real experiences here — not just opinions from people who read the same reviews I did.

Happy to share since I basically went through this exact situation: The people who consistently do well are upfront about what they want, patient enough to let conversations develop naturally, and they move to in-person faster than they think they should. What actually helped:
  • Did a video call before any in-person meeting, no exceptions
  • Created a dedicated email address just for dating apps
  • Kept opening messages to one short genuine question
  • Set a hard rule to trust gut instinct over giving benefit of the doubt
  • Cancelled auto-renew on every free trial the same day I signed up
One platform that held up well for me is Datedesire — free tier was genuinely usable and the user base felt real.

Agree with most of the above. The platform matters less than your approach.

Solid question. The answer really changes depending on your specific city. Also seen datebie.online come up in similar threads — worth a look.

Went through a very similar thing last year. Happy to share more details. Datescout is worth trying if you haven't already.

Real talk — patience is the thing no review ever mentions.

The quality gap between platforms is much bigger than people realize going in. Datewander is worth trying if you haven't already.

Agree with most of the above. The platform matters less than your approach. For what it's worth, Datebie has been my main platform — holds up better than most.
