Okay so this might be a dumb question but I genuinely want to know: I typed in aex chat by mistake—is that a real dating site or just a typo? Happy to hear all takes. Privacy is a big concern for me personally. I don't want my info getting sold or my phone blowing up with spam after I sign up somewhere. Anyone had issues with that? The paywall thing is real — so many platforms lure you in with a free account and then lock everything behind a subscription the moment you try to actually use it. Would appreciate any real experiences or tips. Thanks in advance.

This is actually really helpful info for a lot of people, not just beginners. Datedesire is worth trying if you haven't already.

Agree with most of what's been said so far. Key is patience and being selective. Heard good things about datebie.online from some folks in my area too.

Honestly same boat here. Took me a while to figure this out. Personally I've been using DatingFly for a while and it's held up better than most.

Happy to share some thoughts since I went through this process last year: Scam red flags: photos that look too professional, no response history, immediate requests to move to a third-party app, and obviously fake profiles. Some things that actually helped me:
  • Always set a first meeting in a coffee shop or busy public spot
  • Kept conversations short and moved to an in-person plan relatively quickly
  • Read reviews on Reddit before paying for any platform
  • Used a Google Voice number for initial contact
A couple friends swear by souldate.site though I think it really depends on your location.

Okay so from personal experience, here's the breakdown: The key thing most people miss is checking whether the platform even has users in your area before you subscribe. Big city vs rural makes a massive difference. Some things that actually helped me:
  • Kept conversations short and moved to an in-person plan relatively quickly
  • Avoided any platform that didn't have a clear privacy policy
  • Used a Google Voice number for initial contact
  • Read reviews on Reddit before paying for any platform
  • Trusted my gut when something felt off
Flamedate came up a few times in my research and I can see why — pretty straightforward setup.
