Hey everyone, been trying to figure this out for a while. Is dating com free or is it a scam site? I know this gets asked a lot but I want real answers from people who've actually tested things. Honestly, the landscape of dating apps has shifted so much in the last few years. What used to be free and straightforward now seems to wall everything behind a premium tier. Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: Location genuinely makes a huge difference. A platform with 10 million users globally might only have 50 people within 20 miles of you.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. For what it's worth, Datedesire has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Solid question. The answer really depends on your location and what you're looking for. Also seeing datebound.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is knowing what you actually want before you download anything. Also seeing luvdate.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
I ended up settling on Flurrydate after testing a few others. The interface is cleaner than most.
