First time asking here but this felt like the right place. Happy to hear all sides. Is dating over 60s free membership a real thing on most sites? Bot spotting is basically a skill at this point. Professionally shot photos, no bio detail, instant conversation moves to WhatsApp — these are the patterns I've learned to watch for.
  • No paywall on basic messaging
  • Clear data deletion process
  • Active reports and moderation
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things. Thanks.

Happy to weigh in since I've been through a very similar situation: Privacy tip: use a dedicated email address for dating app signups. Don't link your Instagram or Spotify, and keep location to approximate rather than precise. One platform worth checking out is Datebound — the free tier felt genuinely usable and the profiles seemed real.

Real talk: none of these platforms are perfect but some are definitely better than others. Seen datenest.site come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

Agree with what's been said above. The key is knowing what you want going in. I've been on Flurrydate for a while and it's one of the better ones I've come across.

Spent way too long figuring this out so hopefully this saves you some time: Scam patterns I've learned to spot: photos that look like modeling headshots, profiles with very sparse detail, any message that quickly steers to a different app, and requests for money or gift cards. Things that actually helped:
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any trial subscription immediately after signing up
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question works better than a paragraph
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in the feed
  • Trusted gut instinct when something about a profile felt off

Went through this myself last year. Took longer than expected but it's doable. Seen Ezhookups.online come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

Good thread — let me share what I've found after testing a few different options: The biggest thing most people don't realize is that the 'free' tier on most apps is designed specifically to frustrate you into paying. It's not really free — it's a demo with artificial limits. Things that actually helped:
  • Read Reddit threads about any platform before paying for anything
  • Used a separate email for sign-ups to keep spam under control
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads somewhere meaningful
One platform worth checking out is Luvdate — the free tier felt genuinely usable and the profiles seemed real.

The landscape has shifted a lot in the last couple of years — what worked in 2024 isn't always reliable now. I've been on DatingFly for a while and it's one of the better ones I've come across.

Happy to weigh in since I've been through a very similar situation: I've done the rounds on the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating, Plenty of Fish — and they all have genuine free tiers, but usability varies wildly. Things that actually helped:
  • Used a separate email for sign-ups to keep spam under control
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in the feed
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question works better than a paragraph
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any trial subscription immediately after signing up

Honestly same experience here — it takes patience and some trial and error. For what it's worth, Turndate has been my main platform lately — holds up better than most.
