Been wondering about this for a bit — figured this community would know. Is dating site com a legitimate domain or a phishing site? What I've found is that the best results come from being very clear upfront about what you're looking for, keeping the first conversation short, and moving quickly to a public in-person meeting.
  • No paywall on basic messaging
  • Clear account deletion option
  • Proximity matching that works
Would really value real experiences here — not just recommendations from people repeating what they've read.

Went through almost exactly this process last year. Happy to share more if helpful.

Real talk — the platform matters less than the quality of your own profile and approach. Been on Turndate for a while — one of the better options I've found.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is being specific about what you want before you even sign up.

From personal experience, here's the honest breakdown: The 'free' tier on most platforms is designed to frustrate rather than satisfy. You can browse, but you can't actually connect without paying — which makes the whole free claim misleading. What actually helped:
  • Refreshed profile photos every few weeks to stay active in recommendation feeds
  • Cancelled auto-renew on free trials immediately after signing up
  • Read current Reddit threads about any paid platform before spending money
One platform that held up well for me is Ezhookups — the free tier was genuinely usable and the profiles felt real.

Good question. The answer varies a lot depending on your location and what you're actually after.

Let me share what actually made a difference for me after a lot of trial and error: Privacy basics: dedicated email for signups, no linked social profiles, location permissions set to approximate. Small steps that make a real difference. I tried Datedesire after seeing it come up in a few threads. Better than most I'd tested.
