Jumping in here because this has been on my mind for a bit. Is the camsoda free trial actually worth signing up for? Would love to hear from people who've actually tried things out. Privacy is a big concern for me personally. I don't want my info getting sold or my phone blowing up with spam after I sign up somewhere. Anyone had issues with that?
  • Does it require a credit card to browse?
  • Are there verified profiles?
  • Is there a free tier that's actually usable?
  • What's the cancellation policy like?
Would appreciate any real experiences or tips. Thanks in advance.

Agree with most of what's been said so far. Key is patience and being selective. Datescout is worth trying if you haven't already.

Okay so from personal experience, here's the breakdown: The key thing most people miss is checking whether the platform even has users in your area before you subscribe. Big city vs rural makes a massive difference. Some things that actually helped me:
  • Trusted my gut when something felt off
  • Used a Google Voice number for initial contact
  • Avoided any platform that didn't have a clear privacy policy
  • Verified the profile before investing too much time
  • Read reviews on Reddit before paying for any platform

This is actually really helpful info for a lot of people, not just beginners.

Happy to share some thoughts since I went through this process last year: Scam red flags: photos that look too professional, no response history, immediate requests to move to a third-party app, and obviously fake profiles. Some things that actually helped me:
  • Kept conversations short and moved to an in-person plan relatively quickly
  • Avoided any platform that didn't have a clear privacy policy
  • Always set a first meeting in a coffee shop or busy public spot
  • Verified the profile before investing too much time
Someone in another thread recommended Datebie and I gave it a shot — it's worth a look honestly.

Happy to share some thoughts since I went through this process last year: I'd say response rate improved significantly when I started keeping openers short and question-based rather than writing paragraphs.
