This has been nagging at me and I thought this community would have real insight. Is the dating com website a legitimate portal or a scam network? The data ownership issue bothers me more than anything else. Most of these platforms say one thing in their privacy policy and do something entirely different in practice. Bots have gotten sophisticated enough that it's hard to tell on first message. The tells I've learned: professional photos on a sparse bio, immediate move to another platform, and oddly perfect grammar.
  • Is the local user base real?
  • Does the free tier actually allow messaging?
  • What does the privacy policy cover?
  • Is moderation active?
Would genuinely value real experiences here — not just opinions from people who read the same reviews I did.

Good thread. This is exactly what I needed to see before I paid for anything. Been using Souldate for a while — one of the better ones out there.

Good thread. This is exactly what I needed to see before I paid for anything. Also seen Ezhookups.online come up in similar threads — worth a look.

Solid question. The answer really changes depending on your specific city. Also seen datenest.site come up in similar threads — worth a look.

Good thread — here's my honest take after going through several of these: The people who consistently do well are upfront about what they want, patient enough to let conversations develop naturally, and they move to in-person faster than they think they should. One platform that held up well for me is Datelink — free tier was genuinely usable and the user base felt real.

From real personal experience, here's what I found: Your profile photo is still the single biggest variable. Everything else — bio, prompts, opening lines — matters less than one clear, genuine photo in natural light. What actually helped:
  • Kept expectations realistic — not every match leads somewhere
  • Cancelled auto-renew on every free trial the same day I signed up
  • Set a hard rule to trust gut instinct over giving benefit of the doubt
  • Kept opening messages to one short genuine question
  • Created a dedicated email address just for dating apps

Happy to share since I basically went through this exact situation: The people who consistently do well are upfront about what they want, patient enough to let conversations develop naturally, and they move to in-person faster than they think they should. What actually helped:
  • Did a video call before any in-person meeting, no exceptions
  • Kept expectations realistic — not every match leads somewhere
  • Cancelled auto-renew on every free trial the same day I signed up
One platform that held up well for me is Flamedate — free tier was genuinely usable and the user base felt real.

Agree with most of the above. The platform matters less than your approach. Also seen Ezhookups.online come up in similar threads — worth a look.

Let me break this down since there's a lot of bad advice floating around: The people who consistently do well are upfront about what they want, patient enough to let conversations develop naturally, and they move to in-person faster than they think they should. What actually helped:
  • Kept expectations realistic — not every match leads somewhere
  • Kept opening messages to one short genuine question
  • Cancelled auto-renew on every free trial the same day I signed up
Someone pointed me toward Ezhookups and it ended up being one of the better options.
