Been thinking about this for a while. Is there a dating app for herpes positive individuals that is active? I'd love to hear from people outside the major cities. The suburban and rural experience on these platforms is genuinely different and usually underrepresented in reviews. Location matters way more than the reviews mention. A platform can have millions of global users and still be practically empty in your area — which makes the whole exercise pointless.
  • Proximity matching that isn't artificially throttled
  • Active reporting tools
  • No paywall on basic chat
  • Clear data deletion option
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: Location is the unspoken variable in most reviews. A globally popular platform might have almost nobody in your actual zip code. What actually helped:
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating app signups
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
Datelink came up repeatedly in my research — worth a look.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost exactly this situation: The people who seem to have the most success are specific about what they want, patient with the process, and keep opening messages short and question-based.

Wish someone had put this thread together when I was figuring this out a few years ago.

Real talk — patience is the single biggest factor. None of these apps deliver immediately. Luvdate is worth trying if you haven't already.

Went through this process myself recently. It takes longer than expected but it's doable.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost exactly this situation: I've gone through most of the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating — and they all have actual free tiers, but usability varies wildly. Also hearing datingfly.online come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

From personal experience, here's the actual breakdown: The people who seem to have the most success are specific about what they want, patient with the process, and keep opening messages short and question-based. What actually helped:
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating app signups
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
I tried Flamedate after seeing it mentioned a few times and it held up better than most.
