So this has been on my mind lately: Is there a good single parents dating app free of scammers? Looking for honest takes, not just app store ads. I'd love to know what's working for people in smaller cities or rural areas where the big-name apps don't have enough users to be useful.
  • Is there phone number verification?
  • Can you report fake profiles easily?
  • How many real users are active in a typical week?
  • Does the free tier let you actually message matches?
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Solid question. The answer really depends on your location and what you're looking for. Also seeing datenest.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

Solid question. The answer really depends on your location and what you're looking for. For what it's worth, Datescout has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: Location genuinely makes a huge difference. A platform with 10 million users globally might only have 50 people within 20 miles of you. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. For what it's worth, Datelink has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
One platform I've actually had decent results with is Souldate — the user base felt real and the free tier was actually usable.
