This has been on my radar for a while and I figured I'd just ask. Is there a master list of dating sites categorized by age demographic? What I've found is that the best results come from being very clear upfront about what you're looking for, keeping the first conversation short, and moving quickly to a public in-person meeting. • What does the privacy policy say about data?
  • Is moderation active?
  • Does the free tier allow actual messaging?
Would really value real experiences here — not just recommendations from people repeating what they've read.

Worth breaking down carefully since there's a lot of noise around this topic: The 'free' tier on most platforms is designed to frustrate rather than satisfy. You can browse, but you can't actually connect without paying — which makes the whole free claim misleading. What actually helped:
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating platform signups
  • Trusted gut instinct whenever something felt off about a profile
  • Set specific goals for each platform rather than treating it as a general numbers game
I tried Datebound after seeing it come up in a few threads. Better than most I'd tested.

Went through almost exactly this process last year. Happy to share more if helpful.

Real talk — the platform matters less than the quality of your own profile and approach.

Solid thread. Wish I'd found this before I wasted money on a couple of platforms. Datebie is worth a try if you haven't already.

Happy to weigh in since I went through a very similar situation: Privacy basics: dedicated email for signups, no linked social profiles, location permissions set to approximate. Small steps that make a real difference. What actually helped:
  • Always verified via video call before any in-person meetup
  • Read current Reddit threads about any paid platform before spending money
  • Kept first messages short — one genuine question works better than a long intro
  • Set specific goals for each platform rather than treating it as a general numbers game
