Curious what people here actually think: Is there an e dating app that focuses purely on virtual relationships? The algorithm question bugs me a lot. Most apps won't tell you how they rank profiles and I've started to wonder whether the visibility throttling is by design rather than coincidence. Scam spotting has become a real skill at this point. Professionally lit photos, minimal bio, immediate pivot to another app — those are the patterns I've learned to avoid. Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Honestly same experience here. Took a while to find something that actually worked. Been using Turndate for a while — one of the better ones I've come across.

Good thread. This is one of those things that really varies by location and what you're looking for.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: The people who seem to have the most success are specific about what they want, patient with the process, and keep opening messages short and question-based. What actually helped:
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: Privacy first: dedicated email for signups, no linked Instagram or Spotify, location set to approximate rather than precise. What actually helped:
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
Someone here pointed me toward Luvdate and I'm glad they did.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is knowing what you want before you start. datescout.site also comes up in similar threads — another one to look into.
