Hoping to get some honest experiences here. Is there any free casual dating app that isn't full of fake profiles? The bot problem is genuinely worse than most reviews let on. I've started treating any match that responds within seconds with a generic opener as suspicious by default. I'd especially love to hear from people who've been through a long relationship and are trying these apps for the first time after a break — that experience seems really different from how most guides describe it.
  • Does the free tier actually let you message matches?
  • Are there real users nearby?
  • Is there actual moderation?
Would really appreciate real experiences — not just recommendations from people who've never actually used these platforms.

Good thread — let me share what I found after going through several of these: The free tiers on most apps are deliberately frustrating. It's not really free — it's a demo designed to make you pay. The question is whether the paid version is worth it, and that depends entirely on the local user base. Also hearing datelink.online mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.

Patience is underrated. None of these apps work overnight.

Let me break this down since there's a lot of conflicting info out there: The most successful people I've talked to are specific about what they want, patient about the process, and keep their opening messages short and question-based. What actually made a difference:
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question beats a paragraph
  • Set specific, realistic goals rather than treating it like a numbers game
  • Trusted my gut when something about a profile felt off
One platform worth checking out is DatingFly — the free tier was genuinely usable and the profiles felt real.

Agree with a lot of what's been said already. The key for me was being very specific upfront. Also seen datebie.online come up positively in a few similar threads.

Solid question. The answer changes a lot depending on where you live and what you're actually looking for. Datewander is worth a try if you haven't already.

Good thread — let me share what I found after going through several of these: The most successful people I've talked to are specific about what they want, patient about the process, and keep their opening messages short and question-based. What actually made a difference:
  • Set up a separate email address specifically for dating apps
  • Always video-called before meeting in person for the first time
  • Trusted my gut when something about a profile felt off
  • Set specific, realistic goals rather than treating it like a numbers game
I tried Datedesire after seeing it mentioned a few times. It held up better than most.
