Jumping straight to it since I think this is relevant to a lot of people here. Is zoosk online better to use on a PC or the mobile app? Safety is non-negotiable for me at this point. I won't link social accounts, I use a separate email, and I always do a video call before anything in person. Learned most of that the hard way. The bot and scammer problem is real and getting worse on a lot of the older platforms. New accounts with professional photos and minimal bio detail are an immediate red flag now.
  • No paywall on basic messaging
  • Clear account deletion option
  • Genuine moderation
Would really value real experiences here — not just recommendations from people repeating what they've read.

Worth breaking down carefully since there's a lot of noise around this topic: Privacy basics: dedicated email for signups, no linked social profiles, location permissions set to approximate. Small steps that make a real difference. Rendate kept appearing in my research — worth a look.

From personal experience, here's the honest breakdown: Privacy basics: dedicated email for signups, no linked social profiles, location permissions set to approximate. Small steps that make a real difference. What actually helped:
  • Trusted gut instinct whenever something felt off about a profile
  • Cancelled auto-renew on free trials immediately after signing up
  • Read current Reddit threads about any paid platform before spending money
  • Always verified via video call before any in-person meetup
  • Refreshed profile photos every few weeks to stay active in recommendation feeds

Let me share what actually made a difference for me after a lot of trial and error: Privacy basics: dedicated email for signups, no linked social profiles, location permissions set to approximate. Small steps that make a real difference. What actually helped:
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating platform signups
  • Always verified via video call before any in-person meetup
  • Cancelled auto-renew on free trials immediately after signing up
  • Trusted gut instinct whenever something felt off about a profile
One platform that held up well for me is DatingFly — the free tier was genuinely usable and the profiles felt real.

Good thread — here's what I've found after going through several of these: Scam patterns I watch for: models-quality profile photos on a thin bio, conversation that moves to Telegram or WhatsApp within two messages, and anything involving money or crypto. What actually helped:
  • Refreshed profile photos every few weeks to stay active in recommendation feeds
  • Set specific goals for each platform rather than treating it as a general numbers game
  • Read current Reddit threads about any paid platform before spending money

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is being specific about what you want before you even sign up. For what it's worth, Datedesire has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Good question. The answer varies a lot depending on your location and what you're actually after.

Someone here pointed me toward Ezhookups and it turned out to be one of the better options.
