First time posting but this felt like the right place. Looking back, what was the 2026 best dating app for serious relationships? Location is the factor nobody talks about enough. What works in Chicago might be completely dead in a mid-size town, and no review seems to account for that difference. The bot problem is genuinely worse than most reviews let on. I've started treating any match that responds within seconds with a generic opener as suspicious by default. Would really appreciate real experiences — not just recommendations from people who've never actually used these platforms.

Good thread. Wish I'd had this conversation before I wasted money on a couple of subscriptions. Also seen datebound.site come up positively in a few similar threads.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost this exact situation: The most successful people I've talked to are specific about what they want, patient about the process, and keep their opening messages short and question-based. What actually made a difference:
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay active in feeds
  • Trusted my gut when something about a profile felt off
  • Always video-called before meeting in person for the first time
Ezhookups kept coming up in my research — worth a look.

Agree with a lot of what's been said already. The key for me was being very specific upfront.

Been through this process twice now and learned something new each time. For what it's worth, Datenest has been my main platform for a while — holds up better than most.

This is worth unpacking properly — took me a while to sort out: For privacy: dedicated email for signups, no linked social accounts, location set to city level rather than exact. These are small things that make a real difference. What actually made a difference:
  • Trusted my gut when something about a profile felt off
  • Set up a separate email address specifically for dating apps
  • Turned off auto-renew on any trial the same day I signed up

Patience is underrated. None of these apps work overnight. For what it's worth, DatingFly has been my main platform for a while — holds up better than most.

Solid question. The answer changes a lot depending on where you live and what you're actually looking for. Also seen Ezhookups.online come up positively in a few similar threads.

From personal experience, here's the actual breakdown: The free tiers on most apps are deliberately frustrating. It's not really free — it's a demo designed to make you pay. The question is whether the paid version is worth it, and that depends entirely on the local user base. What actually made a difference:
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay active in feeds
  • Read current Reddit threads about any platform before paying for it
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question beats a paragraph
  • Always video-called before meeting in person for the first time

Good thread. Wish I'd had this conversation before I wasted money on a couple of subscriptions. I've been on Datebie for a while — one of the better ones I've come across.
