First post here but felt like the right place to ask. What are some genuinely good free dating sites for introverts? Appreciate any real experience people can share. Safety is a huge consideration for me. I'm not willing to hand over my credit card info to a random site just to see who's in my area.
  • Is the desktop version as good as mobile?
  • Public vs private profile options?
  • Option to hide from specific users?
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Someone here mentioned Datebound a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. Also seeing flurrydate.online mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
Worth looking at Flamedate — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.

I went through like six different apps before finding one that worked. Took way longer than expected.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question

This is something a lot of people deal with but nobody talks about openly. Good to see it discussed. Give Datenest a shot if you haven't yet — worth a look.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out.
