First post here but felt like the right place to ask. What are the best dating free chat sites for casual conversations? Appreciate any real experience people can share. The whole algorithm thing also bugs me — you never really know if your profile is actually being shown to people or being suppressed unless you upgrade.
  • Public vs private profile options?
  • Option to hide from specific users?
  • Age verification in place?
  • Is the desktop version as good as mobile?
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: Privacy best practices: throwaway email for sign-up, don't link social accounts, and keep location permissions minimal until you know the platform is trustworthy. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up

Solid question. The answer really depends on your location and what you're looking for. Give Datenest a shot if you haven't yet — worth a look.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
Also worth mentioning datingfly.online — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: Privacy best practices: throwaway email for sign-up, don't link social accounts, and keep location permissions minimal until you know the platform is trustworthy. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere

Worth looking at Datebie — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.

Solid question. The answer really depends on your location and what you're looking for. For what it's worth, Souldate has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague. A couple of people in my circle swear by datebound.site though results seem to vary by location.
