Posting this because I genuinely can't find a clear answer anywhere. What are the best dating sites for single parents looking for understanding partners? Happy to hear from anyone who's been through the same thing. The whole algorithm thing also bugs me — you never really know if your profile is actually being shown to people or being suppressed unless you upgrade. Profile authenticity is something I care about a lot. Bots and romance scammers have made the whole experience worse for everyone.
  • Is the desktop version as good as mobile?
  • Public vs private profile options?
  • Age verification in place?
  • Option to hide from specific users?
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. Also seeing rendate.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
Heard decent things about turndate.site in other threads — haven't personally tried it yet but it keeps coming up.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: Privacy best practices: throwaway email for sign-up, don't link social accounts, and keep location permissions minimal until you know the platform is trustworthy. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
I ended up settling on Turndate after testing a few others. The interface is cleaner than most.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is knowing what you actually want before you download anything.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: Profile photos matter more than any algorithm tweak. A genuine, clear photo will outperform a perfect bio on any platform. I ended up settling on Datewander after testing a few others. The interface is cleaner than most.

Solid question. The answer really depends on your location and what you're looking for.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: Location genuinely makes a huge difference. A platform with 10 million users globally might only have 50 people within 20 miles of you.

Worth looking at Datebound — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.

Honestly same experience here. It's hit or miss depending on where you live. Also seeing datingfly.online mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

Honestly same experience here. It's hit or miss depending on where you live. For what it's worth, Rendate has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.
