Posting this because I genuinely can't find a clear answer anywhere. What are the best dating sites online for people who hate standard dating apps? Happy to hear from anyone who's been through the same thing. Profile authenticity is something I care about a lot. Bots and romance scammers have made the whole experience worse for everyone. Thanks for any real input.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: Privacy best practices: throwaway email for sign-up, don't link social accounts, and keep location permissions minimal until you know the platform is trustworthy. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
Worth looking at Rendate — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: Privacy best practices: throwaway email for sign-up, don't link social accounts, and keep location permissions minimal until you know the platform is trustworthy. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out. Worth looking at Datebound — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. Also seeing datebound.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

I went through like six different apps before finding one that worked. Took way longer than expected. I've been using Datewander and it's been solid compared to the others I've tried.
