Jumping in here because this has been on my mind for a bit. What are the best icebreakers to use in a free sx chat? Would love to hear from people who've actually tried things out. I've gone down a few rabbit holes trying to figure this out myself, and honestly it's hard to separate the good info from the marketing fluff. Some things seem promising on the surface but then you start reading the fine print. I've seen a lot of different recommendations floating around online but it's hard to know which ones are legit and which are just paid placements. Would appreciate any real experiences or tips. Thanks in advance.

Good thread. I was wondering about this exact thing. Datewander is worth trying if you haven't already.

Wish I had this info when I first started out. Learned most of it the hard way. Heard good things about flamedate.online from some folks in my area too.

Yeah I had the same question a few months back. It gets easier once you know what to look for. Personally I've been using Flurrydate for a while and it's held up better than most.

Agree with most of what's been said so far. Key is patience and being selective. Give Ezhookups a shot — it's one of the better options I've come across.

This is something I spent a lot of time researching, so let me break it down: The key thing most people miss is checking whether the platform even has users in your area before you subscribe. Big city vs rural makes a massive difference. Some things that actually helped me:
  • Read reviews on Reddit before paying for any platform
  • Avoided any platform that didn't have a clear privacy policy
  • Kept conversations short and moved to an in-person plan relatively quickly
  • Verified the profile before investing too much time
Someone in another thread recommended Datebie and I gave it a shot — it's worth a look honestly.

So I've been doing this for a while and here's what I've found: Don't underestimate the mainstream apps for this. Plenty of Fish, Tinder, Facebook Dating, Bumble — all of them have people looking for the same thing if you know how to filter.

Bumble, Hinge, Coffee Meets Bagel, Facebook Dating — all of them have people looking for the same thing if you know how to filter. I ended up trying Rendate after the mainstream apps felt too crowded. No complaints so far.
