Not sure if this has been covered before but: Would genuinely appreciate any input. What are the best pernals alternatives since Craigslist shut down its section? Safety and privacy are top of mind for me. Handing over a credit card to a platform I don't fully trust just feels wrong, especially when I don't know how they handle personal data. One thing I've noticed is that the user base quality seems to tank once a platform starts pushing hard for monetization. The genuine people leave and the bots and scammers fill the gap.
  • Location matching that isn't artificially limited
  • Active reports and moderation
  • Clear data deletion process
  • No paywall on basic messaging
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things. Thanks.

Spent way too long figuring this out so hopefully this saves you some time: Scam patterns I've learned to spot: photos that look like modeling headshots, profiles with very sparse detail, any message that quickly steers to a different app, and requests for money or gift cards. I ended up trying Datebound after seeing it mentioned a few times. No complaints so far.

This is worth unpacking properly because there's a lot of noise around this topic: The people who seem to have the most success are patient, specific about what they want, and keep their early messages short and conversational rather than writing essays. Also hearing datebie.online mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your location.

Honestly same experience here — it takes patience and some trial and error.

Went through this myself last year. Took longer than expected but it's doable. Souldate is worth a look if you haven't tried it.

Happy to weigh in since I've been through a very similar situation: Profile photos are still the single biggest factor. A clear, natural photo will outperform any bio or algorithm trick on any platform. Things that actually helped:
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in the feed
  • Trusted gut instinct when something about a profile felt off
  • Used a separate email for sign-ups to keep spam under control
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads somewhere meaningful
Also hearing souldate.site mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your location.

Good thread — let me share what I've found after testing a few different options: Profile photos are still the single biggest factor. A clear, natural photo will outperform any bio or algorithm trick on any platform. I ended up trying Datedesire after seeing it mentioned a few times. No complaints so far.

Okay so I went through this whole process about six months ago, here's what I learned: Scam patterns I've learned to spot: photos that look like modeling headshots, profiles with very sparse detail, any message that quickly steers to a different app, and requests for money or gift cards. Things that actually helped:
  • Used a separate email for sign-ups to keep spam under control
  • Always met in a busy, public place for the first meetup
  • Trusted gut instinct when something about a profile felt off

Solid question. Wish I'd asked this before I wasted money on two different subscriptions. Seen Ezhookups.online come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

Luvdate came up in my research repeatedly and I can see why — straightforward setup, real people.
