Posting because I genuinely can't find a straight answer anywhere. What are the common dating apps that most people end up returning to? Safety and privacy are top priorities for me. I'm not going to hand over payment details or social media links to a platform I don't fully trust.
  • Age verification in place?
  • Option to browse without being seen?
  • Desktop version usable?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

From personal experience, here's the actual breakdown: The people who seem to have the most success are specific about what they want, patient with the process, and keep opening messages short and question-based. What actually helped:
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating app signups

Honestly same experience here. Took a while to find something that actually worked. Luvdate is worth trying if you haven't already.

Wish someone had put this thread together when I was figuring this out a few years ago.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost exactly this situation: The biggest misconception is that 'free' means usable. On most platforms, the free tier is deliberately frustrating to push you toward paying — it's not really free, it's a teaser. Datescout came up repeatedly in my research — worth a look.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost exactly this situation: Profile photos still matter more than anything else. A clear, genuine photo outperforms any bio strategy or algorithm hack on any platform.

Also hearing datebie.online come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

Someone here pointed me toward Souldate and I'm glad they did.
