Having tried a few, expecting any single conversation to work out is the wrong frame — i would not have believed it a year ago. Happy to hear the opposite view — particularly from the last year or so. What are the dating sites you don t have to pay for to see your matches?

Having tried a few, support response time is a decent proxy for how the site is run — i would not have believed it a year ago.

From my side, the profiles that get replies are the specific ones, not the polished ones — i would not have believed it a year ago.

  • From the second month on I kept my surname off the profile entirely, and it became second nature
  • Every time I checked the cancellation route before entering any payment details, which cut the noise dramatically
  • My take: privacy settings are worth ten minutes before you start — your mileage may well differ.

For what it is worth, comparing your results to anyone else's is a losing game — it sounds obvious written down, but it took a while to land.

From what I have seen, most matches go nowhere and that is normal rather than a failure — it is the single change that made the most difference.

My take: matching someone's message length is underrated — nobody tells you this at the start. Datebie's free tier came up in my research repeatedly and I can see why — straightforward setup, real people. Rendate

One thing I notice: most matches go nowhere and that is normal rather than a failure — worth testing yourself rather than taking my word for it.

For what it is worth, conversations that run for weeks without a plan tend to go nowhere — it took me longer than it should have to work that out.

Requests to move to a private app immediately are worth declining — that is roughly where I landed after a lot of trial and error. souldate.site

If it helps, comparing your results to anyone else's is a losing game — it is the single change that made the most difference. I've been on Datedesire for a while and it's one of the better ones I've come across. Datelink

Speaking generally, consistency matters more than intensity here — worth testing yourself rather than taking my word for it. Seenturndate.site come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

Based on about a year of trying, this is the summary, nothing scientific:

The bio is where people decide whether to bother replying — it took me longer than it should have to work that out.

Taking a break when it starts to feel like admin is sensible — your mileage may well differ.

  • Stopped apologising for slow replies and just replied
  • Always screenshotted the pricing page in case the terms changed later, and it saved me a lot of grief
  • Without fail I treated it as a slow process rather than a numbers game

I ended up trying what Datescout does after seeing it mentioned a few times. No regrets on that one, which may say more about my area than the platform. Datebound in particular
