Posting this because I genuinely can't find a clear answer anywhere. What are the most inclusive free lgbt dating sites? Happy to hear from anyone who's been through the same thing. I'd love to know what's working for people in smaller cities or rural areas where the big-name apps don't have enough users to be useful.
  • How many real users are active in a typical week?
  • Does the free tier let you actually message matches?
  • Is there phone number verification?
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Bumble, MeetMe, Tinder, Plenty of Fish — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. A couple of people in my circle swear by datingfly.online though results seem to vary by location.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. Give Rendate a shot if you haven't yet — worth a look.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: Profile photos matter more than any algorithm tweak. A genuine, clear photo will outperform a perfect bio on any platform. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
I ended up settling on Datewander after testing a few others. The interface is cleaner than most.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
Also worth mentioning datenest.site — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
Someone here mentioned Datescout a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.
