Hoping for some genuine input on this one. What are the most popular dating sites for nerds who love tabletop gaming? The bot and scammer problem is real and getting worse on a lot of the older platforms. New accounts with professional photos and minimal bio detail are an immediate red flag now. Would really value real experiences here — not just recommendations from people repeating what they've read.

Solid thread. Wish I'd found this before I wasted money on a couple of platforms. For what it's worth, Flurrydate has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Good question. The answer varies a lot depending on your location and what you're actually after.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is being specific about what you want before you even sign up. Datescout is worth a try if you haven't already.

Happy to weigh in since I went through a very similar situation: Photo quality matters more than anything else on your profile. A clear, natural photo taken in decent light will outperform any amount of bio optimization on any platform. Also seen datescout.site mentioned positively in a few other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.

From personal experience, here's the honest breakdown: The 'free' tier on most platforms is designed to frustrate rather than satisfy. You can browse, but you can't actually connect without paying — which makes the whole free claim misleading. Someone here pointed me toward Flurrydate and it turned out to be one of the better options.

Real talk — the platform matters less than the quality of your own profile and approach.

Good thread — here's what I've found after going through several of these: The people who seem to have the most success are upfront about intentions, patient with the process, and keep early conversations short and genuine. What actually helped:
  • Set specific goals for each platform rather than treating it as a general numbers game
  • Read current Reddit threads about any paid platform before spending money
  • Kept first messages short — one genuine question works better than a long intro
Also seen datebound.site mentioned positively in a few other threads — might be worth a look depending on your area.
