I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to ask. What are the safest free dating websites for over 50 women? Would love to hear from people who've been in the same boat. Safety is a huge consideration for me. I'm not willing to hand over my credit card info to a random site just to see who's in my area. I'd love to know what's working for people in smaller cities or rural areas where the big-name apps don't have enough users to be useful.
  • How many real users are active in a typical week?
  • Is there phone number verification?
  • Can you report fake profiles easily?
  • Does the free tier let you actually message matches?
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Honestly same experience here. It's hit or miss depending on where you live. Also seeing Ezhookups.online mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: Privacy best practices: throwaway email for sign-up, don't link social accounts, and keep location permissions minimal until you know the platform is trustworthy. Someone here mentioned Datebound a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. Also seeing rendate.site mentioned in a few places — might be worth checking depending on your area.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Match.com, Badoo, Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Heard decent things about Ezhookups.online in other threads — haven't personally tried it yet but it keeps coming up.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. One platform I've actually had decent results with is Ezhookups — the user base felt real and the free tier was actually usable.

Also worth mentioning datingfly.online — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.

The mainstream ones — Hinge, OkCupid, Badoo, MeetMe — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
One platform I've actually had decent results with is Flamedate — the user base felt real and the free tier was actually usable.
