Posting this because I can't find a straight answer anywhere. Any real experiences appreciated. What is a full free dating app that doesn't have any in-app purchases? I'd love to hear what's working for people outside the major coastal cities. Rural and suburban dating on these apps can be a totally different experience. Bot spotting is basically a skill at this point. Professionally shot photos, no bio detail, instant conversation moves to WhatsApp — these are the patterns I've learned to watch for.
  • How active is the user base in my area?
  • What does the privacy policy actually say?
  • Does the free tier actually let you message matches?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things. Thanks.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: Scam patterns I've learned to spot: photos that look like modeling headshots, profiles with very sparse detail, any message that quickly steers to a different app, and requests for money or gift cards. Also hearing datescout.site mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your location.

Agree with what's been said above. The key is knowing what you want going in. Datebie is worth a look if you haven't tried it.

Okay so I went through this whole process about six months ago, here's what I learned: The people who seem to have the most success are patient, specific about what they want, and keep their early messages short and conversational rather than writing essays. Also hearing datingfly.online mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your location.

Good question. The answer really does vary a lot by location. I've been on Rendate for a while and it's one of the better ones I've come across.

This is one of those things that changes a lot from city to city and even neighborhood to neighborhood. Seen datedesire.online come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

The landscape has shifted a lot in the last couple of years — what worked in 2024 isn't always reliable now. Datelink is worth a look if you haven't tried it.

Went through this myself last year. Took longer than expected but it's doable. Datebie is worth a look if you haven't tried it.

Okay so I went through this whole process about six months ago, here's what I learned: Privacy tip: use a dedicated email address for dating app signups. Don't link your Instagram or Spotify, and keep location to approximate rather than precise. Things that actually helped:
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads somewhere meaningful
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question works better than a paragraph
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in the feed
Also hearing datingfly.online mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your location.
