First post here but felt like the right place to ask. What is the best advice for over 60s dating online? Appreciate any real experience people can share. Safety is a huge consideration for me. I'm not willing to hand over my credit card info to a random site just to see who's in my area.
  • Can you report fake profiles easily?
  • Does the free tier let you actually message matches?
  • How many real users are active in a typical week?
Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: The people who do best on dating apps tend to be patient, consistent, and specific about what they're looking for upfront rather than vague. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
Also worth mentioning datenest.site — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. I've been using Souldate and it's been solid compared to the others I've tried.

I went through like six different apps before finding one that worked. Took way longer than expected.

Honestly same experience here. It's hit or miss depending on where you live.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — Bumble, Hinge, Facebook Dating, Match.com — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Someone here mentioned Rendate a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.
