First post but this felt relevant to share. What is the best dating app 50 plus for finding a life partner? The algorithm question bugs me a lot. Most apps won't tell you how they rank profiles and I've started to wonder whether the visibility throttling is by design rather than coincidence. Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Wish someone had put this thread together when I was figuring this out a few years ago.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: I've gone through most of the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating — and they all have actual free tiers, but usability varies wildly. What actually helped:
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
Someone here pointed me toward Datenest and I'm glad they did.

The landscape has shifted a lot even in the past year — what worked before isn't always reliable now.

Good thread. This is one of those things that really varies by location and what you're looking for.

Went through this process myself recently. It takes longer than expected but it's doable.

Real talk — patience is the single biggest factor. None of these apps deliver immediately. For the record, DatingFly has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

From personal experience, here's the actual breakdown: Scam red flags I've learned to spot: modeling-quality photos, very thin bios, conversation that quickly moves to a different platform, and anything that involves money. What actually helped:
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
