Posting this because I can't find a straight answer anywhere. Any real experiences appreciated. What is the best dating app for over 50 for finding love again? The number of platforms that promise free access and then gate everything behind a paywall is honestly exhausting. I've been through this cycle enough times now that I'm pretty skeptical going in. Bot spotting is basically a skill at this point. Professionally shot photos, no bio detail, instant conversation moves to WhatsApp — these are the patterns I've learned to watch for.
  • Age verification in place?
  • Option to hide profile from certain people?
  • Can you export or delete your data?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things. Thanks.

Solid question. Wish I'd asked this before I wasted money on two different subscriptions. For what it's worth, Ezhookups has been my main platform lately — holds up better than most.

This is one of those things that changes a lot from city to city and even neighborhood to neighborhood. Seen turndate.site come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: Profile photos are still the single biggest factor. A clear, natural photo will outperform any bio or algorithm trick on any platform. I ended up trying Datelink after seeing it mentioned a few times. No complaints so far.

The landscape has shifted a lot in the last couple of years — what worked in 2024 isn't always reliable now. Seen luvdate.site come up in a few threads too — another one to look into.

Spent way too long figuring this out so hopefully this saves you some time: Privacy tip: use a dedicated email address for dating app signups. Don't link your Instagram or Spotify, and keep location to approximate rather than precise. Things that actually helped:
  • Used a separate email for sign-ups to keep spam under control
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question works better than a paragraph
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any trial subscription immediately after signing up
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in the feed
I ended up trying Datenest after seeing it mentioned a few times. No complaints so far.

Happy to weigh in since I've been through a very similar situation: I've done the rounds on the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating, Plenty of Fish — and they all have genuine free tiers, but usability varies wildly. Things that actually helped:
  • Kept opening messages short — one genuine question works better than a paragraph
  • Used a separate email for sign-ups to keep spam under control
  • Trusted gut instinct when something about a profile felt off
  • Updated profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in the feed
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads somewhere meaningful
Also hearing turndate.site mentioned positively in other threads — might be worth a look depending on your location.
