Posting because I genuinely can't find a straight answer anywhere. What is the best fwb app for people who want transparency from the start? Location matters way more than the reviews mention. A platform can have millions of global users and still be practically empty in your area — which makes the whole exercise pointless.
  • Age verification in place?
  • Option to browse without being seen?
  • Desktop version usable?
  • Easy profile deletion?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: Privacy first: dedicated email for signups, no linked Instagram or Spotify, location set to approximate rather than precise. What actually helped:
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
Someone here pointed me toward Datewander and I'm glad they did.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of noise out there: Privacy first: dedicated email for signups, no linked Instagram or Spotify, location set to approximate rather than precise. What actually helped:
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating app signups
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
Also hearing souldate.site come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

Spent way too long learning this the hard way, so hopefully it saves you some time: The biggest misconception is that 'free' means usable. On most platforms, the free tier is deliberately frustrating to push you toward paying — it's not really free, it's a teaser.

Real talk — patience is the single biggest factor. None of these apps deliver immediately. For the record, Souldate has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Let me share what actually made a difference after a lot of trial and error: Profile photos still matter more than anything else. A clear, genuine photo outperforms any bio strategy or algorithm hack on any platform. What actually helped:
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating app signups
