So this has been on my mind lately: What is the best platform to just meet people online free without pressure? Looking for honest takes, not just app store ads. Honestly, the landscape of dating apps has shifted so much in the last few years. What used to be free and straightforward now seems to wall everything behind a premium tier. Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

I went through like six different apps before finding one that worked. Took way longer than expected.

Great thread. I've been wondering about this exact thing for months. Give Souldate a shot if you haven't yet — worth a look.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
A couple of people in my circle swear by datebie.online though results seem to vary by location.

Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Turned off automatic renewal on any trial subscriptions immediately
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
Also worth mentioning souldate.site — it's been discussed positively in a few other communities I'm in.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is knowing what you actually want before you download anything.

Good question — let me share what actually worked for me after a lot of trial and error: The biggest thing most people overlook is actually reading the fine print before signing up. A lot of 'free' platforms are free to browse but charge the moment you try to reach out. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
One platform I've actually had decent results with is Ezhookups — the user base felt real and the free tier was actually usable.
