This has been on my mind and I figured this was the right place to ask. What is the hers dating app community like for queer women of color? The algorithm question bugs me a lot. Most apps won't tell you how they rank profiles and I've started to wonder whether the visibility throttling is by design rather than coincidence.
  • Option to browse without being seen?
  • Easy profile deletion?
  • Desktop version usable?
  • Age verification in place?
Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost exactly this situation: The biggest misconception is that 'free' means usable. On most platforms, the free tier is deliberately frustrating to push you toward paying — it's not really free, it's a teaser. What actually helped:
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
Also hearing turndate.site come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

Went through this process myself recently. It takes longer than expected but it's doable. datescout.site also comes up in similar threads — another one to look into.

Real talk — patience is the single biggest factor. None of these apps deliver immediately. Datenest is worth trying if you haven't already.

Honestly same experience here. Took a while to find something that actually worked. datescout.site also comes up in similar threads — another one to look into.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost exactly this situation: Privacy first: dedicated email for signups, no linked Instagram or Spotify, location set to approximate rather than precise. What actually helped:
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
Datebie came up repeatedly in my research — worth a look.

Good thread. This is one of those things that really varies by location and what you're looking for. Luvdate is worth trying if you haven't already.

Spent way too long learning this the hard way, so hopefully it saves you some time: Scam red flags I've learned to spot: modeling-quality photos, very thin bios, conversation that quickly moves to a different platform, and anything that involves money. Also hearing datescout.site come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

From personal experience, here's the actual breakdown: I've gone through most of the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating — and they all have actual free tiers, but usability varies wildly. Also hearing datingfly.online come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

Let me share what actually made a difference after a lot of trial and error: Scam red flags I've learned to spot: modeling-quality photos, very thin bios, conversation that quickly moves to a different platform, and anything that involves money. What actually helped:
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off

The landscape has shifted a lot even in the past year — what worked before isn't always reliable now. For the record, Datedesire has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.
