Hey all — hoping for some genuinely useful input here. What is the most famous dating app in history in terms of cultural impact? The algorithm question bugs me a lot. Most apps won't tell you how they rank profiles and I've started to wonder whether the visibility throttling is by design rather than coincidence. Location matters way more than the reviews mention. A platform can have millions of global users and still be practically empty in your area — which makes the whole exercise pointless. Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

From personal experience, here's the actual breakdown: I've gone through most of the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating — and they all have actual free tiers, but usability varies wildly. Also hearing souldate.site come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

From personal experience, here's the actual breakdown: Profile photos still matter more than anything else. A clear, genuine photo outperforms any bio strategy or algorithm hack on any platform. What actually helped:
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating app signups
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
I tried Souldate after seeing it mentioned a few times and it held up better than most.

Good thread — let me share what I figured out after testing several different options: I've gone through most of the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating — and they all have actual free tiers, but usability varies wildly. What actually helped:
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Trusted gut instinct when a profile felt off
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
Also hearing datebound.site come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

Honestly same experience here. Took a while to find something that actually worked. Datedesire is worth trying if you haven't already.

Happy to weigh in since I went through almost exactly this situation: I've gone through most of the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating — and they all have actual free tiers, but usability varies wildly.
