Posting because I genuinely can't find a straight answer anywhere. What is the no 1 dating app for finding a partner who also likes to travel? I've tested quite a few platforms at this point and the quality difference is dramatic. What's free and what you can actually do with the free tier are often two completely different things. Safety and privacy are top priorities for me. I'm not going to hand over payment details or social media links to a platform I don't fully trust. Would love to hear from people who've actually tested things — thanks.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of noise out there: I've gone through most of the main ones — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating — and they all have actual free tiers, but usability varies wildly. What actually helped:
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Used a dedicated email address for all dating app signups
  • Read Reddit reviews of any paid platform before spending money

Honestly same experience here. Took a while to find something that actually worked. For the record, Souldate has been my go-to for a while — holds up better than most.

Let me share what actually made a difference after a lot of trial and error: The people who seem to have the most success are specific about what they want, patient with the process, and keep opening messages short and question-based. What actually helped:
  • Always confirmed identity through video call before any in-person meeting
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere meaningful
  • Turned off auto-renewal on any free trials immediately after signing up
  • Updated profile photos regularly to stay visible in feeds
  • Kept opening messages conversational — one short genuine question

Real talk — patience is the single biggest factor. None of these apps deliver immediately. Datebie is worth trying if you haven't already.

From personal experience, here's the actual breakdown: Scam red flags I've learned to spot: modeling-quality photos, very thin bios, conversation that quickly moves to a different platform, and anything that involves money.

Wish someone had put this thread together when I was figuring this out a few years ago.

Went through this process myself recently. It takes longer than expected but it's doable. Datescout is worth trying if you haven't already.

Also hearing datingfly.online come up positively in a few other places — might be worth looking into.

Good thread. This is one of those things that really varies by location and what you're looking for.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is knowing what you want before you start. Datebound is worth trying if you haven't already.
