I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to ask. Where can I find a no credit card dating site? Would love to hear from people who've been in the same boat. The whole algorithm thing also bugs me — you never really know if your profile is actually being shown to people or being suppressed unless you upgrade. Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Thanks for any real input.

This is worth breaking down properly because there's a lot of bad advice floating around: I've tested quite a few options. The mainstream ones — MeetMe, Bumble, Hinge, Badoo — all have free tiers, but they vary a lot in how usable those tiers actually are. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Checked Reddit for reviews of any paid platform before spending money
  • Set realistic expectations — not every match leads anywhere
  • Used a separate email address for sign-up so my inbox didn't blow up
  • Met in a coffee shop or busy public spot for the first meetup, always
One platform I've actually had decent results with is Luvdate — the user base felt real and the free tier was actually usable.

I went through like six different apps before finding one that worked. Took way longer than expected.

Happy to chip in here since I went through a very similar situation last year: Location genuinely makes a huge difference. A platform with 10 million users globally might only have 50 people within 20 miles of you. Worth looking at DatingFly — it came up in a few threads I read and the consensus was pretty positive.

From personal experience, here's the breakdown: Bots and scam profiles are real on almost every free platform. Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Heard decent things about datebound.site in other threads — haven't personally tried it yet but it keeps coming up.

Okay so I've been doing this for a while now, here's what I've figured out: Privacy best practices: throwaway email for sign-up, don't link social accounts, and keep location permissions minimal until you know the platform is trustworthy. Someone here mentioned Turndate a while back and I gave it a shot. No major complaints so far.

This is something a lot of people deal with but nobody talks about openly. Good to see it discussed.

Agree with most of what's been said. The key is knowing what you actually want before you download anything.

Key red flags: photos that look professionally shot, profiles with very little detail, immediate requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram. Things that actually made a difference for me:
  • Kept the opening message short and asked a genuine question
  • Updated my profile photos every few weeks to stay visible in feeds
